The Waqf was established in 1986 by Mr. Korkut Özal and Müjgan Özal. The main goal of the Waqf is to contribute to the education of the Turkish youth and to carry the standards of Turkish education to the world standards. The Waqf provides scholarships to many university students. It aims to establish a modern educational complex composed of all levels of education ranging from education in kindergartens to masters education. With this complex, the Waqf plans to provide the Turkish students with an education at the world standards.

Another function of the Waqf is that it supplies food, combustibles, and clothing to the poor and the ones in need. It contributes to the payment of the treatment and medical expenses.

The Waqf donates money to the institutions serving for the public. It, by its own sources, accomplishes projects initiated for public use. Of these projects, the Primary School building in the Altunizade region of Istanbul, the Mosque, and the social foundations in the Altunizade region of Istanbul have been completed and opened to public use. Besides these, an eating-house, run by the Bakırköy Municipality, was established and opened to service. Now, it provides meals to 3000 people per day. Also, the construction of a votive-cutting center and an engineers’ chamber house has been completed.

In order to continues with the services of the Waqf, and to achieve its goals, Our Waqf organizes some commercial functions; since 1994, our Waqf has run cafeterias, open and closed car parks in the Altunizade region.
